Pac-12 Week Two Round Up: USC Wins Big on the Road, Oregon Dominates Michigan State

There were two big games for the Pac-12 this weekend, one of them being a conference match-up of two teams who have become bitter rivals, and the other being a prime time match-up in Eugene. This is the Pac-12 Round Up.

USC tops Stanford 13-10 in Palo Alto: The University of Southern California made a huge statement that they could be the team to beat in the Pac-12 South. With UCLA’s recent struggles against inferior competition, it could become a reality for  the #14 Trojans, who used a 53-yard Andre Heidari field goal to beat the #13 Stanford Cardinal, 13-10.

Javorius “Buck” Allen had another big game for the Trojans, running for 154 yards on 23 carries. Wide Receiver Nelson Agholor brought in nine receptions for 91 yards.

Stanford’s downfall came from two missed field goals and two fumbles inside the USC 30 yard line as the Cardinal lost at home for the first time in four seasons as a 17 game home win streak, then the longest active streak in the country, came to an end. Stanford was held scoreless in the second half as USC moves to 2-0 on the season.

Oregon scores final 28 points to top Michigan State, 46-27: (3)Oregon quarterback and Heisman hopeful Marcus Mariota threw for 318 yards and a three touchdowns as the Ducks outscored (7) Michigan State 28-3 in the second half in route to a 46-27 victory in Eugene. Receiver Devon Allen caught three passes for 110 yards with two of Mariota’s touchdowns.

Spartans quarterback Connor Cook put up 343 yards and two touchdowns but couldn’t keep the momentum going in the second half as Oregon’s defense forced two interceptions. Tony Lippett racked up 11 catches for 133 yards and a touchdown. Running back Jeremy Langford put up 24 carries for 86 yards and a touchdown for the Spartans.
