Halloween is that time of year when many people take joy in releasing and celebrating that morbid and ghoulish creature that lies within, and it is quickly approaching.
It is often accompanied by people’s insatiable need to partake in all manners of ghostly and otherwise honorific cinematic fare. On October 3rd the first offering of the Halloween season to make its way to theaters is Annabelle.
Anyone who has seen James Wan’s film, The Conjuring will remember little Annabelle from the opening scene of the film. Now the little scamp is being given a film of her own, as a sort of spin-off/prequel. John R. Leonetti, who has been the cinematographer on 5 of James Wan’s films, is in the director’s chair this time around.
The movie stars Annabelle Wallis, Ward Horton, Alfre Woodard, Tony Amendola Eric Laden, and Brian Howe.
Mia (Wallis) and John (Horton) are a young couple anticipating the birth of their child. As a gift to both Mia and their unborn child, John buys a rare, antique doll named Annabelle. One night, after John investigates a disturbance at a neighboring house, they fall victim to a home invasion and vicious attack from satanic cult members.
Even the doll Annabelle becomes a victim of their acts. Determined to try to move on from the horrific events of that night, they begin to realize something has followed them and seeks to wreak havoc on their new life. What malevolent force is now contained within the vessel that is the doll named Annabelle? And, what are its evil intentions?
If you really wish to know, buy a ticket and take the ride with Annabelle on Oct. 3rd.
