Video: Diaco Says Puyol and Tarbutt Will Share UConn Football Kicking Duties

When UConn football head coach Bob Diaco released the depth chart on Monday for the season opener on Thursday, incumbent placekicker Bobby Puyol found himself in an ‘or’ situation with freshman kicker Michael Tarbutt.

Last season, Puyol was 9-of-14 on field goals and 19-of-22 on PATs for the UConn football team Meanwhile Tarbutt was helping his Canisius High School team in Buffalo, NY win a state championship on a 60-yard field goal and earning offensive MVP honors in that game. He was also 1st Team All-New York and was a second team USA Today All-American.

Now they find themselves sharing the placekicking duties for the UConn football team.

Puyol will handle the PATs and shorter field goals while Tarbutt will be doing the kickoffs and longer field goals.
