Boston Bruins released some info on their season ticket renewals this morning:
Boston Bruins Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Amy Latimer announced today that current Season Ticket Holders will be able to renew their Season Tickets for the 2012-2013 NHL Season beginning tomorrow, February 23. During this process, there will be a weighted average increase of $5.45 (per ticket) over their 2011-2012 Season Ticket Holder pricing.
A range of Season Ticket Holder renewal prices are as follows:
Loge Seat: $70-$115 per game
Balcony Seat: $32-$75 per game
Bruins Season Ticket Holders will receive an email tomorrow, February 23, which will include renewal information for the 2012-2013 NHL Season as well as playoff ticket information for the 2012 NHL Playoffs.
Can’t say if there’s any truth to the rumor that the team also used this GIF to counter Bruins fans complaints.
Brutal. Snoopy is a dick.
When Team DOY got our first season tickets in the 2008-2009 season we paid roughly $19.50 a seat per game. This year we’re paying $27. Next year we’re looking at a minimal of $32 per game. That’s an extra $205 per seat for the season — IF we get the cheapest price. But we don’t have the cheapest balcony seats at the Garden, so that number is a lowball projection. It’s probably going to be more like $300 or even higher. We’ll know for sure shortly. Either way this sucks. Blogging doesn’t pay. And Sallie Mae is constantly holding everyone at gunpoint, shaking us down for our lunch money.
We totally expect to hear the “You don’t have to have season tickets” argument. True, but that doesn’t make these increases any more rediculous. Don’t expect people to jump up and say “YES! I get to pay even more now! Woooo!” It feels like ticket prices are increasing faster than the salary cap. We’re obviously not surprised that prices went up a year after the Bruins won the Stanley Cup, but it doesn’t make it any easier to swallow, especially when the team’s STH perks are pretty much non-existent. Also, the team was jacking prices before the team was even winning.
And this doesn’t just affect STHs. It also is going to be 10x worse for familes and fans looking to buy single game seats. Those prices are going to be even shittier. Rumor has it StubHub is going to give every person a bottle of lube with their game tickets (for a modest fee, of course).
We suppose the silver lining of all this is that the Bruins don’t expect the world to end in 2012 if they’re prepping to play in 2013.
