We all new this was coming. If you're surprised that the NHL is crossing off days from the calendar then you haven't been paying attention. Here's the official statement (not that it matters):
The National Hockey League announced today the cancellation of the 2012-13 regular-season schedule through October 24. A total of 82 regular-season games were scheduled for Oct. 11 through Oct. 24.
The cancellation was necessary because of the absence of a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the NHL Players' Association and the NHL.
No. No, NHL. It wasn't necessary. It happened because you all suck.
More about the loss games after the jump…
If you're looking for any thread no matter how small to remain optmistic, we present Greg Wyshynski of PuckDaddy:
NHL has canceled the schedule for Oct. 11through Oct. 24. Not games – the schedule. Hence, could stil cram in 82 game season if CBA settled.

We prefer Jack Edward's take more, though:
To quote one of my favorite hockey people, "The NHL may not have invented shooting itself in the foot but it certainly has perfected it."

Bruins had six games scheduled in October, three being at home. BostonBruins.com already updated their October schedule to reflect the changes so here's the original from Yahoo! Sports.
Damn… lockout is costing us a home & home against the Habs. Awful. There are three games remaining for October but hahahahahahaahahahaha yea right. October is gone. Just unofficially.
We hardly knew ye, October hockey.
