After Boston's 6-2 loss to the Canucks Saturday night, Milan Lucic went to a night club to destress after a bad day at the office. Shit went down, some bro-dude decided to prove himself or something, and there's video of the aftermath that surfaced on the Internet yesterday.
After this morning's practice, the media had some questions for Lucic about what happened, and he was not pleased with how his hometown has treated him and his family. From Big Bad Blog:
"I was part of an unprovoked attack on Saturday night where I was punched in the face on two separate occasions, like I said, unprovoked. From this point forward, I’m just exploring to pursue this in a legal manner. That’s probably as much as I can say right now. Like I said, I was the victim of the attack. As you can see in the video, I showed restraint by not retaliating in a physical manner. That’s basically it.
That’s one of the worst parts. It’s in my home town. Going back to the spray painting of the church and my grandparents and parents and family getting harassed during the Final against the Canucks in 2011. Now it’s escalated to a point where I get attacked for just minding my own business.
I have no reason left to defend my city and the people in my city. I’m kind of just disgusted and outraged that it had to come to something like that. As far as that goes, other than being in Rogers Arena, nobody will ever see me in downtown Vancouver ever again.”
Gotta feel for the guy and his family. Vancouver has taken running a guy out of town to a new level.
We're honestly just shocked a person in Vancouver threw a punch at a hockey player without a ref protecting him.
And for the people angry that Lucic went to a bar after a game, grow up. He's an adult and can go for a drink if he wants. It's not an excuse for drunk asshats to start assaulting him. Stop the victim blaming.
