6. Boston Bruins at Montreal Canadiens. Not Real Revenge.

You know what really says revenge to me? After getting embarrassed in the playoffs going into the person’s home arena and winning a regular season game. That is what revenge is to me. Not, say, eliminating them if you face them in the next playoff series.

Nope.

Defeating them in a regular season match-up! That is real revenge. Like if someone shot your mum and instead of shooting their mum you took her on a date and gave her food poisoning…and didn’t even have the idea of sending that person pictures of you spunking on her wrinkled old face. If this game is your idea of revenge please show me your family so I could brutally murder them and then just laugh the day away knowing you’re too much of a pussy to do anything about it.

This game is not about revenge. It is not about Lucic killing Weise like he’s a 14lb hoagie dripping with hot, melty cheese sauce. It is…mmmmm….cheese sauce…

Stop that Pez.

This game is about the Bruins finding themselves, and not like a 10 year at Boy Scout camp, but find out who they are. They haven’t really showed anyone who they are yet. Last night flashes but the complete package isn’t there yet. There’s still the brain farts from the defensive end, the stupid turnovers that lead to opposing scoring chances (and unfortunately goals) and the mental mistakes that can lead to defeat.

That’s what has been the most frustrating in the first five games. This is a team that should be a perennial Cup contender for the next four to five years but they look like a team who will have a tough time making the playoffs in a somewhat improved Eastern Conference. Losing a couple players shouldn’t shake up “the core” that has been beaten over our heads so much we feel like a certain center who used to wear 91.

I mentioned in my preview yesterday that the Bruins are shooting horrendously when they’re 5-on-5 which was a strength for them last season. If they are going to win hockey games, they need to go back to that even strength dominance we’ve seen the past few years. I know that sounds like some stupid, shitty cliche but it was their bread and butter since they won the Stanley Cup.

The problem is that the Habs are in the Bruins heads.

That team in Montreal is so far in the Bruins’ heads that they would need a frontal lobotomy just to get Carey Price out of there. It happens every year. The way for Boston to beat Montreal is to impose their brawn on them. Instead, Boston tries to match them with their speed and they get their faces caved in. Then Montreal tries to pull their usual Habs bullshit and they successfully instigate the Bruins into being moronic neanderthals who can’t stay out of the penalty box.

Maybe we just need more Coral.

We all need more Coral.
