It seems David Pastrnak has been sent down to Providence yesterday.
There’s two hypothetical reasons why this happened:
1. Providence has two games in between Boston’s four days off. The team travels to St. John’s, Newfoundland to take on the Icecaps. It is possible that the Bruins want Pastrnak to get more playing time in rather than just practice. There’s a good chance he could be called up Thursday for the game vs the Blackhawks.
2. They’re clearing roster space for either Chara or Krejci or both to come back from injury. With Pastrnak being sent down, the roster is now at 21 rostered players which allows both players to come back.
I guess you could say that they sent him down because he made the Czech World Juniors roster, but the WJC isn’t until December 26th.
