This Is The End, My Beautiful Friend.

This is the end, beautiful friend
This is the end, my only friend, the end
Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end
I’ll never look into your eyes, again – The Doors

Okay, maybe that’s a little dramatic, but what better way to announce something than in one of my usual previews no one really reads anymore? The other day I came to a decision that this will more than likely be my last year at Days of Y’Orr. I say more than likely because I could come back after next season but I don’t know what the future holds. I will definitely be taking the 2015-2016 season off. I need a recharge. I need the feeling of watching hockey and knowing I don’t have to break anything down. I need the sport to be enjoyable again and that can be tough when you’re worried about what stupid Photoshop you can make. Think of it this way, during the tremendous Leafs comeback when everyone was celebrating, I was busy writing (and then deleting) a Bruins eulogy and doing Photoshops online with Justin.

I know I wrote a joke post on April Fool’s Day, but this isn’t a joke post. I want to thank everyone who has supported me in what I’ve done with DOY. The DOY boys went from strangers to family in five short years (and some even shorter). I’ve attended their wedding, our children have shared play dates, we’re family. It is everything I could have asked for and more.

Our readers are some of the best, knowledgeable and hilarious people on the Internet. I would put our readers up against anyone. They’re not afraid to tell us how it is and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We never wanted sheep, we wanted people to read us who could laugh at what we said but then when the Bruins sucked, and we pointed out they sucked, our readers had the open forum to agree or disagree. So to all of you, thank you for making these past five years a blast.

In the end, whatever happens with DOY, I’m happy knowing that I was apart of something special. We pissed people off. We made people talk. They paid attention to a little shit blog that has a bear flying on the banner because we pushed the envelope. I appreciate you all taking the ride with me.

In closing, I would like to quote Ron Swanson: “Goodbye Ann, I’ve enjoyed parts of our time together.”
