Maybe the Lions posed with dogs for a calendar shoot because they wanted to show PETA that even though Michael Vick won’t pretend to play along, the Lions love the adorable creatures. Or maybe the Lions are just using the doggy pictures to serve as a symbol for what the Leos will be all season long, just as they’ve been for years — underdogs.
The Saints are favored by 13-points in Week 1 vs. the Lions and the only surprise might be that it’s not actually more. Detroit is going on the road, against a high powered offense, with a first year coach, and a rookie quarterback — fresh off an 0-16 season no less. It almost seems too easy of a pick. Vegas odds have the over/under for total points scored set at a Week 1 high of 49, and something tells me they don’t have it that way because it’s going to be back and forth shootout affair.
Of course, when I come out with my Weely Picks, I’m going with Detroit to cover. I’ll win, I always do.
