I’ve previously done “link dump” posts on my other blog, the Gordie Howe Hat Trick, and Bob has asked me to continue that feature here at Detroit4Lyfe. So, without further ado, your Tuesday Links from the Detroit blogosphere and beyond:
- Over at Bingo Bango, Jessie is getting bored with the long layoff between games. She’s come up with Halloween costume ideas for several of the Red Wings players. She’s pretty spot on with some of them, but I’d like to recommend one for a former Wing, Mikael Samuelsson.
- I don’t think this one needs further explanation: Charles Barkley’s Top Ten Commercials, according to Gunaxin. Personally, I’m a fan of the T-Mobile commercial with Wade & Dwight Howard, but there’s not much room for argument with that list.
- Dylan at UMHoops.com has some great footage from the recent Michigan Madness event to kick off the Michigan basketball team’s season. The videos include part of the men’s team scrimmage, the skills competition, and the dunk contest won by honky-underdog Zack Novak. I attended the event, and Novak’s performance was so legendary they’ve already turned it into a movie.
- If you didn’t have enough reasons to make fun of Ohio State and their fans, here’s one more. If you can get past the fact that this guy has trouble stringing together words to make sentences, the video is pretty damn funny. My personal favorite part is the “Redneck Rocker” calling OSU “his program.” That, or the fact that he’s challenging Terrelle Pryor to a fight from his mom’s staircase. (Warning: D4L advises headphones if at work)
- Unlike the Red Wings themselves, the Chief is already in midseason form over at Abel to Yzerman. If there’s one Wings blog to bookmark, A2Y is it. If the posts aren’t entertaining enough for you, the conversation/ranting/banter in the comments is second-to-none.
- According to Matt Watson at Detroit Bad Boys, rookie Jonas Jerebko is quickly moving up the depth chart. It’s unclear if the Swedish Jerebko is that good, or if Ken Holland and Joe Dumars have been spending too much time together. Either way, Jerebko isn’t backing down from anyone.
- The site was just recently pointed out to me, but it’s quickly becoming one of my favorites. Gunaxin’s list of 6 athletes who are ruining their own legacies. I’d swap the top two though, MJ’s baseball dreams didn’t inspire a website like Namath did.
- And finally, if we didn’t have enough reason to question Alex Rodriguez’s sexuality, we do now.
Personally, I thought the magazine pictures were damning enough. Kate Hudson, you’ve been a great cover but the truth’s out now. [Via Major League Jerk]
