Red Wings Goalies Need to Step It Up

thriller

There’s no denying the Red Wings are off to a slow start.  There’s no reason to hit PANIC! though either. A major reason for this subpar start is because their goaltending (yes, I’m looking at you Ozzie and Jimmy Howard) has given up 3.33 goals per game so far. In case you don’t remember, goaltending was a problem for the Wings after 12 games last season, too (3.25 goals per game through 12 games).  Of course, they were scoring more so their record was less irksome (8-3-1 compared to 5-4-3).  I don’t think the Wings are going to put up as many 5-6 goal games as they did last year, so their goaltending absolutely has to improve if they want to stick it out with the best in the Western Conference this season.

Tonight they take on the Bruins at the Joe in their only meeting this season.  Hopefully, Detroit’s 3-1 win in Calgary on Halloween wasn’t just a “thriller” and serves as the turnaround game that Detroit needed.

Oh, here’s a video of a goalie doing the Michael Jackson dance to Thriller after a win. No big deal.
