There’s a lot of Chippewa pride at Central Michigan University. Trust me, I’m an undegrad there. And don’t get me wrong, I understand having pride for your school, but if I have to hear one more damn comparison between Dan LeFevour and Tim Tebow, or the argument that CMU is the best team in the state, I’m going to start going to Mt. Pleasant Oiler football games.
First of all, Tim Tebow is Tim Tebow. You’re not going find another human with as many man-crushes as this guy has got on him. He’s like Bill Brasky, Chuck Norris and The Most Intersting Man in the World all rolled into one. And he plays in the SEC for God’s sake! Don’t throw LeFevour’s exaggerated, misleading, elevated numbers in my face saying they are better than Tebow’s. Sure, they may be better on paper, but LeFevour plays in the Pop Warner league known as the MAC, which is like the bastard step-child of the SEC. Hell, I was a good player… for D-8 high school football, but put me up against a Rockford or a Stevenson and I would have ended up wishing I ran cross country.
And please stop using the equation CMU>MSU>UM to conclude that Central is the best team in the state. Michigan State took that game, wrapped it up in nice, shiny wrapping paper, put a nice red ribbon on it and gave it to Central like it was their birthday. It’s naïve to think that State (or Michigan for that matter) wouldn’t beat Central 7 out of 10 times.
I’m sorry to have to be the one to bring you back down to earth, Chip-Nation. Let’s just keep doing what we do best: Tailgating, going into the game for the first quarter, stumbling home and watching the rest of the Michigan or Michigan State game.
