Now that you’ve undoubtedly crashed after having a long weekend full of turkey, mashed potatoes, and stuffing (seriously, WTF is it?), D4L comes through with your daily links to help you get your second wind (and no, not the same kind of wind that this kid is producing).
- Rasheed Wallace was fined $30,000 by the NBA yesterday for his comments about the officiating in a game last week. Even by his standards, the “Golden Child” and “NBA Without Borders kids” quotes are pretty funny.
- Steve at The Detroit Lions Weblog put up a great post questioning which part of the Lions defense deserves more of the blame: the defensive line for not getting pressure on the QB or the secondary for blowing more assignments than Nicole Graves? I’ll take the easy way out and say it’s a bit of both.
- Gunaxin is polling readers to determine who is the most dominant athlete of all-time. And shame on you if you vote for Richard Petty (he drives a damn car) or the fucking horse.
- I’ve watched this clip about 5 times now, and I still can’t come up with any kind of explanation. I’m going to throw out a suspension suggestion: ban for life. There are zero logical reasons as to why Keith Ballard deserves to be in the NHL anymore after slashing his own goalie in the head. [via With Leather]
- At first I thought Guyism’s list of 8 things every guy secretly wishes his girlfriend would do would be NSFW (don’t worry, it’s ok guys). To my
dismaydelight, they came up with some pretty good ideas without endangering my employment. However, I 1,000% disagree with the first idea. Every guy knows that if his girlfriend started playing fantasy football, she would win the entire league based on pure luck (like drafting Matt Schaub and Vernon Davis this year). She better know the difference between a touchdown and a home run, but stay out of my sofa-gridiron dominance.
- Kissing Suzy Kolber is trying to think of a badass nickname for Tennessee Titans RB Chris Johnson, and is soliciting the help of its readers (i.e. any of you who click on that link). I’m also a fan of KSK’s idea: “Cop Speed.” Not sure why, but it’s got a nice ring to it.
- I hate to rip on anyone that comes out of Real Detroit (as she says in her bio) and makes a good life for themselves, so thankfully Major League Jerk beat me to the punch line. MLJ absolutely rips apart Hill’s article on Tiger Woods and his car accident issue. I’m usually a fan of Hill’s writing, but she stepped outside of her comfort zone here.
Rob’s Highlight of the Day
I didn’t really see the same sort of quality plays that we’ve come to expect here at D4L last night (mostly due to Comcast’s incompetence causing me to miss the Patriots-Saints game), but I was impressed with Dahntay Jones’ dunk over Monta Ellis from last night’s Golden State-Indiana game. Yeah, we see a dunk like that multiple times a game, but watch and appreciate how effortless Jones makes it look.
