These links are pretty good (wink, wink). Seriously, check them out; and if you don’t, I have a feeling your whole family’s going down.
- Michigan State couldn’t hang on to a slim lead against #2 Texas last night on ESPN2 and ultimately, fell apart in the waning minutes. Just like last year, this Michigan State team has the potential to be dangerous come tournament time, but Texas is clearly the superior squad at this juncture of the season. Eff ’em.
- If you haven’t listened to the Red Wings podcast, The Obstructed View, featuring our very own, Jessie Boik, then you are a damn fool. These people reallllllllly know their Red Wings hockey. It’d be a shame if you didn’t grasp the knowledge.
- Jessie touched on this in a recent post, but I wanted to rehash it here. Abel to Yzerman is trying to raise money that will help a longtime Wings fan from Brazil to come to Detroit and catch a game. Any extra money they collect will be donated to a children’s hospital. Feel good about yourself, empty your wallets for a really creative and great cause this Christmas.
- The Pistons lost their fifth straight last night, but one of the bigger Pistons websites just got bigger as it announced a merge with Detroit Bad Boys. The move should be official sometime today. Let’s hope it brings the Pistons some swagger and victories.
- Bad news for the lady Browns fans: Brady Quinn is out for the season. That hot bod all you ladies lust over will now be wasted on the sidelines, airing in re-run commercials, and playing Texas Hold-Em Online.
- I think Andy Reid just won me over as an Eagles fan for the post-season with the little hip check he puts on 49ers Dashon Goldson after Goldson hit Eagles’ wide receiver, DeSean Jackson, late out of bounds. I’m a sucker for coaches who stand up for their players and this is pretty money.
- There was a whole lot of hoopla yesterday because Dwyane Wade said playing with Lebron James would be “interesting.” Seriously, people? It’d be interesting if the Redeem Team played together for the Knicks, too. It’d be interesting if NBA players had to play in shower caps. It’d be interesting if… you get the picture. Don’t read into every little meaningless thing you hear.
- Thought provoking piece over at Bless You Boys wondering if Curtis Granderson was a victim of bad coaching. Here’s my take: Good MLB hitters don’t need hitting coaches. If anything, they may merely need them as mental fluffers — someone who dishes out some positive reinforcement to keep their head on straight. If you’ve made it to the MLB and you’re not a good hitter, I still believe hitting coaches are there more for the minor tweaks than anything else. Then why have them? For the mental enforcement, BP, soft toss, and minor tweaks. Exactly that. I could be wrong, but this is how it was in college, so I can’t imagine it being more hands on at the professional level.
