Ed. note: This was done after the Michigan win, but I’ve been lazy. Kudos to Ryan for another job well done — Bobby B.
On Sunday versus Ohio State Manny Harris and DeShawn Sims performed like NBA caliber players and the result was a much needed W. (Michigan 73 OSU 64- Highlights)
Go back to New Year’s Eve versus Indiana and the duo performed like they were content with lacing them up in the Philippine Basketball Association after their collegiate careers conclude. (Indiana 71 Michigan 65- Highlights)
Reasons for the turn around? After the jump.
- Friendly confines of Crisler Arena (big boisterous crowd even without most of the students attending)
- Wolvies had their backs against the wall (still do in fact)
- Ranked Buckeyes were the opponent instead of emotionally revved Indiana squad in Assembly Hall
- No Evan Turner to worry about
- Dallas Lauderdale’s post game, or lack thereof
- Manny and DeShawn came ready to dominate, combining for 52 points (22-34 fgs) instead of just 25 points as they did against Indiana
- Stu Douglass a defensive stopper? Well, Stu did hold Jon Diebler to just one field goal in the second half (poor Diebler owners)
- DeShawn Sims’ recent sleeping habits?
- Freshman sharp shooter Matt Vogrich led the team in offensive rebounds (3) in just under 3 minutes of action, igniting the Crisler Arena crowd and the team in the second half with a tough offensive rebound in traffic and then a put back lay-in just seconds later (nobody in the arena saw it coming)
- Apparently forward Anthony Wright has changed his ways for the new year— he didn’t attempt any ridiculous shots
- Oh, Tom Crean>>>Thad Matta
**I would make a wisecrack about walk-on Mark Titus, but the guy is funnier than hell and the New York Times recently wrote about him
