Friday Links – Alabama Wins National Championship, Agent Zero Surveillance Video Found, & Jaimee Grubbs’ Maxim Photo Shoot

I’ll be in D.C. this weekend leading a gun safety seminar for a graduate school interview, so this set of D4L links will have to hold you over until Monday. The NFL playoffs are this weekend though, so you’ll have plenty to hold you over. Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter for more D4L coverage.

  • The Alabama Crimson Tide won the Citi National Championship Game in dominating fashion last night. An early injury to Texas QB Colt McCoy turned the Texas offense into the Little Giants offense sans Junior Floyd. Unfortunately, Mack Brown didn’t have The Icebox at his disposal, and the Longhorns proved no match for Alabama’s running game. Backup QB Garrett Gilbert looked completely lost, probably because the Texas huddle went like this on most plays.
  • TMZ Sports reports that there is surveillance footage of the Gilbert Arenas gun incident. Unfortunately (or conveniently, if you’re skeptical like me), no one in the Wizards organization was able to download the video, so the Geek Squad was called in to help. Something tells me that this video will have the same quality as a bad amateur sex tape, leaving us looking like idiots in front of our computers with our pants down.
  • Seriously, this shit is ridiculous. Wings forward Tomas Holmstrom will miss 3-4 weeks with a foot injury after taking a slapshot to the foot during a redirection drill in practice. As Khan(!) said, Homer does this drill after nearly every practice, yet this is the first time he’s gotten hurt. Somebody up there doesn’t like us. [via The Production Line]
  • NESW Sports has a tribute to Chris Farley up on their website. I particularly loved this post because Tommy Boy is one of my all-time favorite movies. It’s definitely top 5, with Talladega Nights entrenched in the top spot. But this is about Farley, so here’s an old favorite.
  • Club Seat apparently can read minds, because I’m pretty sure 90% of the people that watch ESPN regularly wish that the Worldwide Leader would cut these 5 games (because they’re not sports) from their programming. I’d like to add anything involving Skip Bayless into that discussion.
  • Jaimee Grubbs, one of Tiger Woods’ mistresses (do I have to say “alleged” anymore?), did a photoshoot for Maxim. She’s no Elin Nordegren, but the rest of us not blessed with God-like skill with a stiff shaft are still dreaming.

  • Bad Left Hook, SB Nation’s boxing blog, has a great piece up about why boxing has fallen off and how the Mayweather-Pacquiao no-show fits into it. And no, MMA is not the only answer. In fact, it’s not even mentioned in the article. There’s a great discussion in the comment section as well, make sure to check it out.

I realized that I missed this sometime yesterday afternoon, but at the same time am so glad that I have League Pass Broadband. Check out the wild finish in Miami from Wednesday’s Celtics-Heat game. [via Ball Don’t Lie]
