- The NBA announced the All Star voting results today, and Allen Iverson will start for the Eastern Conference. Steve Nash “passed” Tracy McGrady at the last minute, giving the West a legitimate starting 5. If nothing else, it made Moose Lewis happy. As for the Iverson thing? - Chris Osgood said some dumb shit on Wednesday, basically calling out head coach Mike Babcock for not playing him enough despite Jimmy Howard being the hottest goalie on the planet right now. Babcock’s Death Stare has more on the topic, and Kyle is going so far as to change his goalie allegiances.
- ESPN ombudsman Don Ohlmeyer absolutely rips the network’s broadcast of the Alamo Bowl in his latest article. In case you forgot, Texas Tech beat Michigan State 41-31 in ESPN’s highest-rated bowl game broadcast ever. The big story? I guess I can’t be too critical because of where the money’s going, but really?
- I passed over this for a few days now (mostly because it’s a pretty long post), but Ty at Lions in Winter has done some phenomenal work looking at the play of Detroit’s defensive line (specifically the DTs) this year. Long story short: their top pick needs to go to either Ndamukong Suh or Gerald McCoy.
- George Malik of Snapshots adds some sensibility to the recent rumor that the Red Wings would call the Palace of Auburn Hills home in the near future. It’s still not out of the question, but probably not likely to happen.
