Three, That’s The Magic Numberrrrrr

You can also find Ryan over at Life on Dumars.  Though, he writes over there about as frequently as the New Jersey Nets win basketball games.

The Wolvies have done the unthinkable, the unimaginable, the unpredictable… well, besides shooting over 50% from three point range the last two games.

Two straight W’s.   (71-63), (80-78)

On. The. Road.

Who’da thunk it?

Not I.

DeShawn Sims: Peedi scored 27 in both road wins. I don’t know if it all finally clicked and he realized he only has a short time left before his collegiate career is over, or if the team game plan/focus is just to keep feeding the workhorse with reckless abandon. Probably both. CLUTCH 3 pointer to send the Iowa game into overtime. Sims in his post game comments said that he knew the three was going in and he wanted a foul as well.

Manny Harris: Scored 20 in both road wins. Not nearly as efficient from the field as DeShawn has been, but Manny’s been doing the little things that really count: 14 total assists, timely steals, and leaping rebounds to make up for his lackluster box out habits. Also of note, Manny is 6-11 from downtown during this two game win streak. I’ll take that from him any time.

Darius Morris: The Cali kid has matured quite a bit during this road trip. Only two combined turnovers is the key point, but the increased trust Beilein has shown in the kid is a sign of progress, and well, it’s about time. Morris’s fine play even dates back to the Wisconsin and Northwestern games early in the month where he had only two combined turnovers and showed a little scoring prowess with 19 combined points.

Stu Douglass: Look, Stu’s playing out of position, playing a heap-ton of minutes and you know what, he still knocks down shots at critical times. Can’t wait for Stu to return to his shooting guard post next season, but all in all an unmitigated disaster it has not been for Stu this season. Oh, it’s been close, yet when all is said and done Stu will be even that much better of a player for it. I hope.

Zack Novak: Didn’t have a impressive game against the Gophers, but hit some pretty treys against Iowa, and, as usual, made the extra effort plays.

Laval Lucas-Perry:  May have the best looking shot on the team but rarely connects as often as he did against Iowa, draining 3 big trifectas to go along with his solid defense.

Penn State Saturday

Now now kids, don’t let the winless Penn St. Nittany Lions come into Crisler on Saturday and beat you.

Talor Battle already has 20 points from just showing up, so the key to a W is not sleeping on Talor’s inconspicuous teammates.

If all goes well Michigan should find themselves back at a respectable but still disappointing 7-7 conference mark.
