I wasn’t expecting Hollywood to make a movie about my life this early, but just like they say, “sex sells.” For some reason they got the nerdy kid from Knocked Up to play my role when I explicitly asked for Vin Diesel. People tell me I drive like him.
- I usually save the top link for the biggest news of the day, and… that doesn’t change today. Erin Andrews is now on Twitter. Rey Maualuga can barely contain himself. [via Guyism]
- File this in the “not surprised” column. The UConn women’s basketball team won its 71st straight game last night, beating Notre Dame 59-44. The real question: would you even know if ESPN wasn’t talking non-stop about it? The answer is undoubtedly “no,” because I’m sure you had no idea that the Penn State women’s volleyball team has won 102 straight
gamesmatches. And better uniforms.
- I don’t mention it much, but I’m not a big fan of Dan Le Batard of the Miami Herald. Maybe it’s his annoying demeanor on Pardon the Interruption or something. I don’t know. That being said, he has a great piece up about the “TMZ-ization” of sports and how the mainstream sports media is basically turning into a giant paparazzi mob. [via @JemeleHill]
- I missed this yesterday (seriously, how many times have I said that on this site?), but Big Al takes a look at the trade bringing CB Chris Houston from Atlanta to Detroit. I like the move (the Lions only gave up a sixth round pick), but I wouldn’t be too optimistic. There’s probably a good reason Atlanta went shopping for cornerbacks this offseason.
- Staying in the NFL, the Eagles have picked up a $1.5 million roster bonus on QB Michael Vick. Shutdown Corner thinks that this hurts Vick’s chances of being moved somewhere else to be a starter. Not saying that this is a good idea in real life, but I picked him up to back up Matthew Stafford in Madden and he’s been running the Wildcat to near-perfection.
- The Big Ten has announced its all-conference selections for this season. UM Hoops reports that DeShawn Sims is on the second team, while Manny Harris is on the third team. Manny was also honored with the distinguished National Underperforming Player of the Year award, chosen by yours truly. Stay in school Manny, you need it.
- Bob covered the initial announcement last Monday, but the guys at The Basketball Jones are finally settled in at The Score. Their first “new” episode (#523 overall) is up and running, complete with an awesome new backdrop. TBJ is definitely my favorite podcast on the web (with apologies to The Obstructed View and The Knee Jerks), so make sure to check out their new digs.
- Girls making out. Enough said.
Rob’s Highlight of the Day
Today’s highlight is the next chapter in my “Derrick Rose for 2011 Slam Dunk Contest” campaign. Enjoy, unless your name is Zach Randolph. [via Ball Don’t Lie]
