Thursday Links – Tim Tebow’s Pro Day, Ron Washington Apologizes for Using Coke, & George Karl’s Chemotherapy Treatment

Bob is in Vegas for the next few days, so along with the links you’re already reading, I’ll be shouldering the rest of the D4L burden for the greatest four days in sports. Yes, I’ve been handed the big boy keys and there’s no curfew. Let’s have some fun.

  • As you’ve probably heard, Denver Nuggets coach George Karl is currently undergoing chemotherapy for throat cancer. ESPN columnist Rick Reilly shadowed Karl for a couple of days and wrote a fantastic article about the whole experience. Along with Chauncey Billups in the Denver backcourt, Karl is the reason why I’m pulling for the Nuggets to win this year’s NBA title. [via Ball Don’t Lie]
  • The Red Wings are in the middle of an unnecessary three days off out west, getting back into the action on Friday at Edmonton. This random break has left some Wings bloggers sitting on their hands with nothing to do. Kris from Snipe Snipe, Dangle Dangle took the opportunity to introduce a Wings-themed Obama-icon contest. There are some good ones, but I’m willing to bet our readers can do better.
  • I’m definitely going to have to agree with Jimmy Traina of Hot Clicks: Jennifer Walcott is definitely one of the most underrated WAGs in sports.

  • If you don’t have plans for Thanksgiving yet, you might want to make some before your buddy calls you about Lions tickets. While I’ll be thankful for way too many things to list, the Lions will definitely not be thankful for the NFL scheduling the New England Patriots to play against them. Pride of Detroit has the details, including how the Jets were a possibility as well.
  • I don’t know what the deal is with the KHL’s ridiculous shenanigans this season, but the newest incident involves a fan beating a player with his own stick. I’m still not exactly sure how it all goes down, but check out the video and see if you can figure it out. [via Deadspin]

Rob’s Highlight of the Day

Check out Chicago’s Hakim Warrick throwing down a monster dunk against his former team, the Memphis Grizzlies.
