Wednesday Links – UConn Women Win National Title, Chris Bosh Breaks His Face, Donovan McNabb Introduced by Redskins, & Lions Trade for Rob Sims

A late version of the links today, the lovely Physics department at the University of Michigan wants me to know how to calculate the velocity of a photon if given the gross national product of China and a Tickle-Me-Elmo doll.

  • Toronto Raptors superstar Chris Bosh broke his face last nightliterally. Whatever slim chances the Raptors had in the playoffs this year just went out the window, if they even get there. [Photo via Deadspin]

  • If you were to ask Mets manager Jerry Manuel, he’d probably call Lions GM Martin Mayhew’s recent moves, Manuel would probably say, “That’s serious gangsta right there.” Fortunately for us Lions fans, Mayhew likes it. The Lions traded Robert Henderson for Seahawks G Rob Sims, while swapping picks with Seattle as well. Henderson has never played a down in the NFL. Sims has started for two years on a solid Seahawks offensive line. Advantage: Gangsta Mayhew.
  • At Winging It In Motown, Casey advocates for the Red Wings management to reward Drew Miller with a new contract. Miller, a former MSU standout, was signed earlier in the season and has flourished in the Wings system. I think most fans would be in favor of this move, especially with the positive effect Miller has had on the Wings penalty kill lately.
  • If I was an asshole like the highlight makers at a certain sports conglomerate, I’d put this video from Total Pro Sports in my “Not Top 10” too. Fortunately for you readers, I have my evil moments.

Rob’s Highlight of the Day

I can’t embed the video (seriously MLB, come on) but Evan Longoria hit a bomb of a home run against the Baltimore Orioles last night. He’ll definitely be a front runner in the AL MVP race this year.
