As was the problem in yesterday’s loss to the Mariners, runs in the 8th inning dealt Detroit’s demise. Today reliever Ryan Perry spoiled a great start by Jeremy Bonderman (7 IP, 0 ER, 6 K) by allowing the M’s to double their hit total (five) and score four runs in the 8th to take a 5-4 lead they would not relinquish in the top of the 9th inning. David Aardsma picked up his 11th save of the season in 1-2-3 fashion, ending the game fittingly by retiring Ryan Raburn.
Also fitting, Ryan Raburn is pictured above in the photo of suck. Why hate on Ryan Raburn? Well, we always hate Ryan Raburn and today was take free Ryan Raburn potshots day because he cost the Tigers a run in the very 1st inning when he stutter stepped around third, ignoring his coach’s directions, and in turn, was thrown out at the plate by Ichiro Suzuki. Imagine that, the Tigers lost by a run.
To end this post on a positive note and who deserves the attention, Magglio Ordonez hit a 2-run homer and had three hits. Also, there was the amazing catch by Brennan Boesch, who also added two hits. Austin Jackson added two hits, as well.
The dusted up Tigers will head home to face Oakland for a three game weekend series. Luckily, they did not lose a game today, as the Twins were defeated by the Yanks for the 14th time in their last 15 tries.
