Max Scherzer’s two tune up starts in Triple-A proved to be enough for Tigers management to give him the call up for Sunday’s start against the Oakland A’s. In Scherzer’s two starts with the Mud Hens, he won both, gave up just four hits, walked two, and struck out 17 in 15 innings. He only allowed just one run (0.60 ERA) and had an opposing batting average of .083. I think it’s safe to say he has been re-programmed effectively.
Let’s hope it doesn’t rain again, ruining his re-wiring, and that he’s here to stay. There’s no word on who will be demoted, but we can all hope it’s Ryan Raburn. Chances are it will be Armando Galarrago, though, because he still has an option left.
