Tigers Continue to Pound Relief Pitching, Come Back for 7-2 Win

White Sox pitcher Gavin Floyd has been a Tiger killer throughout his career, posting a 5-0 record since hitting the majors with the Sox in 2007. He continued that domination tonight, giving up just 1 run in 6 innings of work. Unfortunately for him (and fortunately for Tigers fans), his bullpen wasn’t as sharp. The Tigers pounded relief pitchers Matt Thornton and Scott Linebrink for 6 runs in the top of the 7th inning to take the lead for good. Ozzie Guillen was definitely not happy.

Ryan Raburn had two doubles, the second of which scored Ramon Santiago and Johnny Damon to give the Tigers a 3-2 lead. Brennan Boesch hit a three-run home to dead center field to break the game open, and Carlos Guillen added a solo HR in the next at-bat to top off the scoring. Armando Galarraga followed up his perfect game with a decent effort, giving up 2 runs on 7 hits in 5 innings. Brad Thomas pitched two key scoreless innings for the Tigers to pick up the win. Joel Zumaya pitched a scoreless 8th before giving way to Jose Valverde for another perfect 9th inning.
