- Good news from South Africa: both Jozy Altidore and Oguchi Onyewu are able to play on Saturday against England. While Altidore is a lock to start, it’s still not clear if Onyewu will be in the lineup or not. The U.S. will need strong showings from both if they want to take 3 points from the Brits.
- Deadspin has visual evidence of Pete Rose’s record-breaking bat… that has a cork in the middle. While it’s not surprising that Rose would do this, it’s a bit of a letdown from a historical standpoint.
- Red Wings defenseman Brett Lebda is drawing some attention from various hockey clubs in Europe. Signs point to him leaving the Wings, especially since he wasn’t among those who received contract offers earlier this week.
- The Chicago Tribune made some waves yesterday by printing a photoshopped picture of Chris Pronger with the legs of a woman. Drew at Nightmare on Helm Street was quick to point out the difference between Chicago’s media and Detroit’s (or any other city, for that matter).

- As good as Maize ‘n’ Brew’s take on conference expansion was (I linked it on Monday), Bring On the Cats might have an even better look at things. Their description of Texas A&M is downright hysterical.
- I missed this in last night’s recap, but the Tigers got their 1,000th win against the White Sox yesterday. The Sox have 999 wins against the Tigers, so there was a lot of organizational pride on the line last night. Yeah, I made that term up. I feel like Rod Marinelli over here.
- It’s no blogger press box, but several Detroit blogs (including us) have been/are getting some nice media perks. Michael Petrella at Winging It In Motown will be at the NHL Draft, and Chris Hollis of Motown Wings got a chance to cover the Gatorade Replay episode between two Detroit hockey rivals.
