France’s Soccer Team Refuses to Practice, Director Resigns

France’s World Cup team has struggled so far in South Africa, drawing with Uruguay and losing to Mexico. The French were heavily favored in Group A but now need help to have a chance of moving on to the knockout stages. After Thursday’s loss to the Mexicans, striker Nicolas Anelka was booted off the team after a dispute with coach “Crazy” Ray Domenich. Now, the other 22 players are refusing to practice in protest of Anelka’s dismissal. While the French media is having a field day with this story, Allen Iverson doesn’t see the big deal.

Jean-Louis Valentin, France’s team director, has surrendered resigned. Hey, at least it’s not the first time someone from France gave up in the face of adversity.
