Espn’s much ballyhoed 3D service is gaining attention with their recent advertising push. 3D movies, videogames and now television are promising an experience “like actually being there.” In some instances, this could be a real selling point for the technology to take off. For instance, the HR Derby will be broadcast in 3D for the 8 or so people who own a 3D Tv. Watching Miguel Cabrera do this while “actually being there” sounds pretty terrific.
The obvious problem is that this certainly means we will be subjected to the terror that will be Tim Kurkjian in 3D. Personally, the thought of a high definition 3D Tim Kurkjian actually “being there” with me is perhaps the most horrifying thought I can fathom. I recently finished the first season of Dexter, and this certainly means I’ll have nightmares of being taped down to a board as a dark and mysterious Tim Kurkjian hovers above me and gleefully runs off on base percentage leaders of the Philadelphia Athletics.
Well, that picture makes sense. He seems rather innocent here, but I am positive this ended exactly like this. Sure, he looks an awful lot like John Crotty here, but I’m sure this also means he possesses the cold calculated killer mentality that Crotty brought to the court.
Coming soon to your nightmares…Baseball Tonight starring a 3D Tim Kurkjian….be careful what you wish for.
