You know you missed them. Get caught up with today’s links, but don’t leave any stains on the couch.
- It wasn’t the most exciting match in history, but Spain topped the Netherlands 1-0 in extra time yesterday to win their first World Cup. Of course, you already knew that. I told you it would happen a month ago.
- By now you know that LeBron James has decided he can’t lead a team to a championship, and jumped onto the Dwyane Wade bandwagon in Miami. If you haven’t seen Sportscenter in a few days (like me) make sure you read Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert’s letter to Cleveland fans. It’d be nice if I could take him seriously with that font choice though.
- Speaking of high-profile free agents, the Red Wings lost out on defenseman Brett Lebda. Instead, Lebda will be playing poor positional defense in Toronto next season. Kyle of Babcock’s Death Stare makes a mockery of both the Toronto blue line and payroll.
- It probably didn’t happen how he would have visioned it, but Miguel Cabrera will start in tomorrow’s All-Star Game. Minnesota’s Justin Morneau, who was voted into the starting slot by the fans, will miss the Midsummer Classic due to concussion symptoms.
- I’m not 100% sure who Rachel Uchitel is, but Guyism knows. (Google says Tiger Woods does too)
- Someone got bored this weekend and started a rumor that the Tigers were looking to trade Rick Porcello. Naturally, Jim Leyland didn’t take too kindly to that. It’s no “Jason Grilli” quote, but still worth a look.
