Miguel Cabrera had a huge night for the Tigers with two home runs and 3 RBI. Magglio Ordonez chipped in with a home run of his own in the 5th inning.
TRIPLE CROWN WATCH
Cabrera’s two homers give him 24 on the year, good enough for 2nd in the AL. Josh Hamilton had 4 hits for the Rangers; he leads the AL with a .352 batting average. Cabrera’s .342 average is good enough for 3rd in the league and his 82 RBI lead the AL.
BATTERED AND BRUISED
Brandon Inge left the game in the 5th inning after he was hit by a pitch. X-rays showed that he has a fractured left hand and will miss 4-6 weeks. An Austin Jackson line drive hit Rangers P Dustin Nippert in the back of the head in the 6th inning. Nippert left the game but appears to be OK.
LOOKS AT THE ROOKS RETURNS
Austin Jackson? Awesome.
Brennan Boesch? Not so awesome.
Danny Worth? Awesome at chillin’ on the bench all night.
N00b Robbie Weinhardt was a bit unlucky in his 2.2 innings. He gave up 4 hits, all of them weak grounders that found holes in the Tigers infield. He only gave up one run while striking out two and forcing two double plays. So… mostly awesome.
