With the injury bug biting both Magglio Ordonez and Carlos Guillen tonight and an important doubleheader looming tomorrow, the Tigers needed to make a quick personnel move. Enter AAA utilitymen Jeff Larish and Will Rhymes.
I don’t know if it’s possible for the Tigers to find two players more different than these guys. Larish has played mostly at 1B and 3B throughout his minor league career, while Rhymes has earned his keep in the middle of the infield. Larish is a power hitter, putting up 15 home runs and 55 RBI for the Mud Hens this year. Rhymes is a contact-hitting speedster; he has a .304 average with 19 doubles, 6 triples, and 20 stolen bases.
