2008 Lions > 2007 Patriots

LIONS BEAT PATS

This website is insane. It lets you simulate games between any teams from any year. And, since it is on the internet, you know that the logic it uses is flawless. Anyways, I took some of Detroit’s best and put them to the test.

Classic matchup #1.

The 2008 Lions (0-16) vs. the 2007 Patriots (16-0)

Sorry for the spoiler up above, but as you see the Lions were just too much for the overmatched Patriots. Tom Brady’s Bieber hair cut was probably the reason.

lions/pats boxscore

If you haven’t been to Dr. Rahmani, that might be difficult to read. Here you go. As you can see, A Dan Orlovsky to Mike Furrey TD in the 4th put the game essentially out of reach for the hapless Pats. Sadly, the ’08 Lions were not always victorious, such as this game, when they lost a squeaker by 77.

After the jump, two more “classic” matchups.

Classic matchup #2.

2003 Detroit Tigers (43-119) vs. 1927 Yankees (110-44)

Tigers beat 27 yankees

The 2003 Tigers gave the start to Mike Maroth. The crafty lefty lost 21 games this year, but not this one against the 1927 Yankees.

boxscore 27 yankees

Maroth used the lefty matchup to his advantage in holding Babe Ruth to zero hits and a strikeout. The battery of Maroth and Inge was strong in holding the ’27 Yankees to just 6 hits and 2 runs. In fairness to the ’27 Yankees, they were all dead at the time of the game. It’s a miracle they were able to get 6 hits in the first place.

Classic matchup #3.

2003-04 Detroit Pistons (54-28) vs. 1995-96 Chicago Bulls (72-10)

pistons beat the 96 bull by 9

The 2003-04 Pistons were just too much for the 1995-96 Bulls. A 14 point halftime lead proved their vast superiority over the Bulls. Darko probably even saw some time. 72 fluke wins in my opinion. The box score looked stupid here, find it here.

To sum this all up, I spend a lot a lot of time doing stupid things on the internet.
