The Florida Panthers have set a franchise record by winning their 10th game in a row. That’s pretty good. Keep in mind, the Panthers were good enough once to reach the Stanley Cup Finals. They have been good. 10 wins in a row is a very good accomplishment.Roberto Luongo is probably better than Job Vanbiesbruck to, and Jaromir Jagr might have been older in 1997 than any other Panthers players are right now. (He was 23 then, so that’s not too crazy)
The Panthers now have a commanding lead in the east, and it seems like there is no stopping them. Can both teams in Florida be respected hockey powerhouses? Maybe. Will we see stars voluntarily taking their talents to South Beach? Probably not. Still, having a successful team is a great way to evaluate the viability of a team in Sunrise.
SCOREBOARD
Calgary 3, Tampa Bay 1 – Just so you know, Calgary is once again a playoff team (if the season were to end today)
Winnipeg 4, Nashville 1 – The Jets are just trying to get a little respect.
Philadelphia Flyers 4, Montreal 3 – The Canadiens really need Carey Price to be back.
Minnesota 4, Columbus 2 – There were 14 goals scored in the last 2 minutes. I will have to check my math, but I think that’s right.
Chicago 3, Pittsburgh 2 – The Blackhawks are also arising from their slumber.
Florida 5, Buffalo 1 – I know it’s just the Sbres, but its really tough to dominate like this.
New York Rangers 6, Dallas 2 – The Stars were so bad, Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin were benched.
Washington 3, Boston 2 – Hey Florida, this has been fun, but be wary of the Caps They are still there.
