Brennan Boesch went 5-for-6 tonight in the Tigers’ 13-7 win over the Texas Rangers. He threw a touchdown pass hit two homers, had 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
Here’s the fun part: Boesch improved his batting average from .260 to .278, his on-base percentage from .324 to .338 and his OPS (on base + slugging) from .725 to .787. Basically, he erased any argument the stat-heads have about moving him out of the 3rd spot in the Tigers lineup, all in one night.
Of course, the rest of the team wasn’t bad either. If a guy in a Tigers uniform stepped into the batter’s box, he got a hit. Yes, even Ryan Raburn. Max Scherzer kind of sucked, but at least he picked a good night to do so, one in which the Tigers moved within 1.5 games of the free-falling Cleveland Indians.
Keep on raking, Brennan.
UPDATE: Jim Leyland decided to have a little fun too.
