Yes, you read that right. Don Kelly, long considered (by me) to be one of the more useless components of the Detroit Tigers’ organization, was the best reliever that Jim Leyland used in tonight’s 16-9 loss to the Mets.
Luckily for the Tigers, Kelly only threw five pitches (including a decent curveball) so he should be fresh enough to get the save tomorrow after Justin Verlander pitches 8 scoreless innings.
