In what has to be the best trade of names that would make a 12-year old boy (or anyone reading this blog, hopefully) laugh, the Tigers acquired pitchers Doug Fister and David Pauley from the Seattle Mariners. In return, they traded away Charlie Furbush, Casper Wells, and minor league prospect Francisco Martinez.
Fister’s numbers this season aren’t impressive (they aren’t the ones in the picture above), but that’s largely because he played for Seattle. Fister’s 3.33 ERA is better than anyone in Detroit’s rotation not named Justin Verlander, so he should provide some much needed punch to the soft interior of the pitching staff (pun intended).
Most importantly, Fister is under club control until the end of the 2015 season, so go ahead and buy that Fister jersey t-shirt that you knew you wanted ever since you heard about this trade.
