At the tail end of the Detroit Tigers' sweep of the Cleveland Indians, Terry Francona allowed former Tiger Ryan Raburn to pitch an inning. As if the series wasn't hilariously in favor of the Tigers enough, Raburn was summoned from the bullpen to pitch the top half of the ninth inning due to the previous game going 14 innings and the Tigers taking the rest of the Indians' staff out behind the woodshed. Thus, Francona was all, like, ah, what the fuck – let's just pitch Raburn now. Why else did we just give him a 2-year extension?
Raburn threw mid 80s despite not actually finishing on any of his pitches. He looked like he was in serious arm pain while on the mound, or he had too much chew in his mouth, but he did pitch a 1-2-3 against the meat of the nethermost part of the order – Brayan Pena, Matt Tuiasosopo, and Hernan Perez. He actually struck out Tuiasoso (see below):
Look at that those chaw-filled cheeks jiggle. Don't be too hard on Tui, though; it can be really hard to hit a meatball.
