Greg Monroe, who just signed the Pistons’ one-year qualifying offer so that he could become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2015, was subsequently suspended by the NBA for the first two games of the 2014-2015 season after the association learned he plead guilty to operating a vehicle while impaired in APRIL after a February arrest.
Details surrounding the incident have emerged via the police report and they’re not pretty for Moose [MLIVE]:
Monroe failed the field sobriety test, missing a letter while reciting the Alphabet with “slow and deliberate speech,” swaying when asked to count backwards to 78 from 100 and unable to walk a straight line, the report says.
Greg Monroe “urinated on himself during the booking process,” the Huntington Woods police report documenting his arrest says.
Hopefully Monroe can learn from this and use better judgment moving forward. Small consolation here, this news seems to be getting little play with all else going on in sports (read: Ray Rice, Roger Goodell, NCAA, not many people caring about the NBA right now, etc.)
