The Detroit Lions looked amazing in Week 1, but less so in Week 2. Naturally, with the Green Bay Packers coming to town in Week 3, they need to find out what was working in week one and get back to it – fast. That should be something they can accomplish, as the Lions historically fare much better against the Packers at home than they do at Lambeau. On top of that, Green Bay’s defense has given up 60 points through the first two weeks, and could struggle against offensive weapons like Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush.
This epic NFC North clash comes in at a decent value for Detroit fans, too, as Detroit Lions tickets have an average price of $166.05 on the secondary market with a $61 get-in price. That makes Lions vs Green Bay Packers tickets 9% more expensive than the season average of $151.33 at Ford Field. Aaron Rodgers and a pretty potent Packers offense naturally help raise the price a tad here, while a Lions win would provide amazing value to this highly anticipated yearly duel.
The problem, of course, arises in Detroit trying to stop Rodgers and co. and get to 2-1. Both of these teams boast excellent offenses and sit at just 1-1, so neither will take the possibility of a loss that drops them to 1-2 very lightly. Unfortunately for the green and gold, however, Detroit gets this one at home and knows all too well what is on the line.
With few rushing lanes in the first two weeks with the Lions going up against strong run defenses, both Reggie Bush and Joique Bell may find a lot more room to run against a fairly depleted Packers front line. Marshawn Lynch carved this unit up in week one, while Chris Ivory also had success at Lambeau Field in Week 3. On their own field, there’s a good chance the Lions can establish the run and keep Green Bay honest on defense.
On the flip-side, Detroit has a solid pass rush, while the Packers have major instability on the outside of their offensive line. If the Lions can get to Rodgers early and silent Green Bay’s passing attack, while also controlling the tempo with the ground game, they could escape with a huge Week 3 win.
