In the video below Thomas Tyner is number 4 in white with the yellow helmet, the tailback with power, speed and grace. As a sophomore last year he ran a 10.35 100 meters and led his Aloha football team to a state championship behind the blocking of Oregon Duck James Euscher, now laboring in Jim Radcliffe’s weight room and serving his apprenticeship on the scout team. Tyner ran for 1555 yards and 20 touchdowns in the championship season, and this year on a rebuilding 4-5 Warrior squad he’s stood out as an explosive weapon.
In the clip below you’ll see him drive through tackles and accelerate like only a few great backs can. At 6 feet 200 pounds, he’s bigger than LaMichael James, Kenjon Barner or De’Anthony Thomas, but with even more elite speed. He’s the favorite to be State sprint champion this spring, and will likely compete in both sports as a 2013 prospect, making Oregon, “Track Town U.S.A.”, an even better fit for him.
Tyner has made several unofficial visits to Autzen this season, taking in Ducks games first hand while amassing interest and attention from schools all over the country. So far the Ducks remain high on his list, and he on theirs. as he has tremendous potential to become the next link in a great tradition at running back in the Oregon system, continuing the excellence established by Derek Loville, Jonathan Stewart, and LaMichael James.
