From Coach Ken Potter and Jesuit High School in Beaverton, the school that brought the Ducks Keanon Lowe, Oregon picked up their third verbal commitment in a week, defensive end Henry Mondeaux, 6-5, 250.

Mondeaux (pronounced mawn-DOO) is an agile, versatile athlete, a standout big rebounder on the Crusader basketball team, an all-Metro tight end who also plays fullback, linebacker and defensive end for a football team that faces Canby Saturday in the state 6A football semi-finals at Jeld-Wen Stadium.

Throw it down, big man: Henry Mondeaux snares a rebound in a state playoff basketball game against Sunset last March. The newest Duck football commit is a 4-star prospect with size and strength, the requisite meanness of a winner (Randy L. Rasmussen, Oregonian photo).

The promising senior made the All-Tournament Team at The Opening this July, chosen among the best of the nation’s top 170 recruits at the elite, national-televised competition.

On film, he’s a tough-minded blocker, a mobile hitter, and a playmaker, a big, strong dominating player. The Ducks like him at defensive end/outside linebacker, a rare combination of size and agility. The Crusader’s senior leader with fullback/linebacker Joey Alfieri out with a broken leg, Mondeaux had offers from ten schools, including Washington, Nebraska, Oregon State Arizona State and Boise State, interest from Florida and Miami, a coaching visit from Stanford.

Mondeaux plays with an urgency and aggression that reminds scouts of Terrell Turner, Kenny Rowe and Taylor Hart. He’ll provide a physical edge, confidence, leadership and a winning atttitude for the Oregon defense of the future
