Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles rallied for 28 points in the fourth quarter to put away the Lions in a come-from-behind home win at Lincoln Financial Field Sunday afternoon.
The Eagles trailed 8-0 in driving snow after a Matt Stafford touchdown pass in the third quarter, gave up a punt return for a td and a 98-kickoff return for a td to go down 20-14 with 14:34 to play, but they ripped off three scoring drives in the final 14 minutes for their fifth win in a row. Now 8-5, they have a half-game lead over Dallas in the NFC East. The Cowboys play Chicago on Monday night (thebiglead.com photo).
LeSean McCoy powered for a team-record 217 yards in the win. In the blizzard-like conditions Nick Foles struggled to 11-22 passing while throwing his first interception of the season. He did manage 179 yards, including a third-quarter 19-yard touchdown pass to DeSean Jackson that got the Birds on the board after falling behind 14-0. The team never panicked, and snowplowed the Lion defense for 299 yards rushing in the win.
Safety Patrick Chung contributed three tackles, and Casey Matthews added one.
The Eagles continued success is great for Oregon football, and it continues to show that Kelly is a singular coaching talent that transforms teams. The Eagles were 4-12 last year, firing long-time coach Andy Reid last December.
