ESPNU just announced that Mattrell McGraw is going to be a Duck. The 6-0, 180-lb. safety from John Curtis High School in River Ridge, Louisiana just committed this morning.
Rated the #13 safety in the country by ESPN, McGraw had offers from over 30 schools, including Texas A&M, UCLA, Alabama and Notre Dame. He visited Eugene in December.
He's the type of player John Neal excels in developing, aggressive, smart on the field, a hard hitter with a good attitude. With the Ducks graduating both starting safeties in Brian Jackson and Avery Patterson, adding depth at the position was critical, and McGraw has the potential to be a multi-year starter.
Winning his commitment gives the Ducks 19 in the class so far with decisions by Juju Smith and Kahlil Oliver pending later in the day.
