Power running back Royce Freeman of Imperial High School in Imperial, California is officially a Duck, sending in his letter of intent this morning.
A 5-star commit, 6-0, 230 pounds with 4.6 speed in the 40, Freeman is the all-time leading rusher in California CIF San Diego section history. He led his team to an 11-1 record this year while rushing for over 7600 yards in his career, with 111 touchdowns (Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports).
The fast, powerful running back slammed in for three touchdowns in the Army All-American game and was an honorable mention Parade All-American as well.
His commitment gives the Ducks three versatile, talented backs with different skill sets to supercharge the offense behind Marcus Mariota. Thomas Tyner has Olympic speed. Byron Marshall rushed for a thousand yards last year with steady effort and good leg strength. Freeman adds an entirely new dimension with his size and strength, very difficult to bring down. He'll help the Quack Attack immediately, particularly at the goal line and in short yardage situations, but he's a talented runner who defeats angles, capable of big plays, with the endurance and power to wear a defense down.
