Sixers Hang Around, Fade Late in Loss to Raptors
Philly native Kyle Lowry overcame being murdered by JaKarr Sampson to record 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 12 assists in a Toronto victory.

Toronto 100, Philadelphia 84 – Box Score

Spoiler alert…Sixers lose…by double digits…again…Also lost is any remaining hope that this Sixers team would build momentum following a pair of last second victories over Indiana and Brooklyn. With that said, the Sixers entered Wednesday night’s contest against Toronto without the services of F Robert Covington (bruised shoulder) and the versatile 24-year-old’s 13 points and 5 rebounds per game. Also missing in action was G Tony Wroten who didn’t even make the trip up north due to a knee injury. Coach Brown spread the minutes around (as much as he could) and the Sixers lingered like a fart in the car for much of the game, showing signs of life during the second quarter when they trimmed a once 16-point deficit to as little as 4 by the halftime buzzer.

Sparking the second quarter excitement was intriguing trade chip and reigning ROY Michael Carter-Williams. MCW scored 18 of his game and career-high 29 points in the first half but struggled from the field following intermission. If there is a positive to take away from this game it would have come during the second quarter when MCW took the ball off a pick and roll and raced Terrence Ross to the rim, finishing with an authoritative slam.

//platform.vine.co/static/scripts/embed.jsThe long-armed guard flashed a burst of speed we’ve come to know exists, but haven’t seen become a staple of his all-around game frequently enough. Either way it’s those flashes that the Sixers brass can’t help but love, especially as the trade deadline approaches and potential suitors come calling.

Nerlens Noel also deserves some credit for responding to Tuesday night’s uninspired performance with 12 points and 8 rebounds on 5 of 9 shooting from the hardwood. The Sixers will enjoy one night of rest before resuming action against the Pelicans Friday night. Now at 7-31, the Sixers have come back down to earth and most Philly fans will be happy to know there don’t appear to be any elongated win streaks in this team’s near future.

(Editor’s Note: Shout-out to #PointKarr for nearly ending Kyle Lowry)

(Final Editor’s Note: Obligatory K.J. McDaniels highlight of the night):
