Vancouver has been nothing short of a disaster this year. After proving the issue of goaltending a bit with some east coast teams, I have no intention of doing that here. No, when you go 9 games without a win, your issues aren’t reduced as easily.
One of those reasons might be the reliance on Loui Eriksson, Vancouver’s most well known acquisition this past offseason. Vancouver hoped to lean on the former Star and Bruin as a offensive cog in a disparate group of forwards. Instead, it took until just last night for him to score his first goal as a Canuck.
Vancouver went to Madison Square Garden, the only facility in New York that wasn’t hosting some sort of election event, and they defeated the Rangers in a high scoring affair. Will this be enough to save Willie Desjardins’ job? Will this even register for the Rangers as a bad loss? Probably not, if we’re being honest, but at the very least, the Canucks could smile once this dreadful month.
