The St. Louis Blues recently announced their roster for the Winter Classic Alumni Game and one of the most notable missing names was Curtis Joseph. The Blues named four goaltenders (Mike Liut, Martin Brodeur, Ed Staniowski and Chris Mason), but the obvious missing name was Joseph.
Why wasn’t Joseph named to the roster? Because apparently he will be suiting up in a different alumni game on the same day.
Jeremy Rutherford reported during his live chat that CuJo will be unavailable: “I’m told that Joseph is playing in the Toronto alumni game on that same day.”
It’s disappointing that one of the most recognizable goalies in Blues history will be missing, but it sounds like there’s nothing that can be done due to CuJo’s prior commitment.
Some of the other selections are pretty questionable (Brodeur?), but at least the mystery surrounding CuJo has been answered.
