I had a chance to talk to San Antonio’s KSAT 12 Sports reporter and anchor, Larry Ramirez, before game one as I did with several other local media members recently, and asked him about his thoughts on the San Antonio Spurs vs. Memphis Grizzlies series.
Although Tony Parker struggled a bit through game one, Ramirez still expects Parker to have a great series.
“I think Tony Parker will have a big series,” Ramirez said. “He should eat Mike Conley alive.”
Parker will have to shoot better than his 4-of-16 from the field on Sunday to make a difference in this series.
As the Grizzlies showed in game one, they are no pushovers on the defensive end so Ramirez said the Spurs will have to take care of the ball.
“Memphis has quietly become a solid defensive club so the Spurs need to shoot the ball well and limit turnovers,” Ramirez said.
On Sunday, the Spurs shot 40 percent from the field and turned the ball over 10 times.
The Spurs’ bench, which has been a big part of the team’s success this season, is a key for the Spurs against the Grizzlies, according to Ramirez.
“Memphis has the front line advantage but the Spurs have a deeper bench and the better overall team,” Ramirez said. “Spurs in 5 games.”
Make sure to catch Larry’s series coverage on KSAT 12 throughout the week.
