Toros’ Thomas also working out for Spurs

Lance ThomasYesterday, we reported that Austin Toros forward Leo Lyons would be working out for the Spurs today, but it appears they are also working out his Toros teammate, Lance Thomas.

Thomas was drafted out of Duke by the Toros with the third pick in the second round of the 2010 D-League Draft.

This season he averaged 12.6 points and 5.5 rebounds in 29 minutes per game for the Toros, but his numbers don’t really tell the whole story when it comes to Thomas.

The 6-8 forward is athletic, but he’s also a bit of a tweener and can play both forward positions. His best when slashing to the basket or shooting from mid-range. He has the length and wingspan to potentially be a good perimeter defender, but he’s also comfortable using the wingspan to pull rebounds away from taller forwards and centers.

According to Lyons’ and Thomas’ twitter streams, they are likely working out together. They’ll should be working out in the next few hours, and I’ll hear from them shortly after that. We’ll have that interview on Project Spurs later tonight or tomorrow.
