Former San Antonio Spurs great Artis Gilmore recently sat down to talk with floridatoday.com, to talk about his NBA career, making not only the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame but the Basketball Hall of Fame, his five seasons with the Spurs and much more. It’s a great sit-down interview where Gilmore recounts his days playing basketball.
Also in this Q&A, Gilmore said regardless how long it took him to get nominated for the Hall of Fame, it’s finally happening and is one of the best summers of his life. He also spoke on the ABA – the league the Spurs came from – and how it brought excitement ot the NBA with players such as former Spur George Gervin.
He also spoke on Orlando Magic’s Dwight Howard’s impending free agency and says he has no advice for him on whether he should stay in Orlando or move on.
When asked to pick his starting five of all-time he chose Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Julius Erving, Larry Bird, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Not a bad line up.
